Thoughts#3267
Love is the
feeling which animates a person who is genuinely fond of someone or something.
God
loves us, regardless of whether or not we love Him back. God's love for us is
complete, so much so that He gave us the life of His only begotten son Christ
Jesus, that we may live and spend eternity with Him.
When
God loves, He looks at us with eternity in mind. His good purpose is that we
spend eternity in relationship with him. That is different from the earthly love
we show. We do not keep eternity in mind, instead we keep our thoughts on our earthly desires
and use that as our measuring stick of love.
The Bible
says “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade
itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not
provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the
truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things and love never fails”. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to truly
learn to love one another.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Deuteronomy 7:7-8
The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you.
Romans 5:8
But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
