Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:45-46
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
In contrast to the gems that are precious to us, how much more are we precious to the Lord who has given His life for us. The parable in today's Scripture reveals the costly beauty and value of the Gospel to all those who believe and are made righteous through the precious sacrifice of Jesus. It is His gift that makes us so special.

God cannot be seen with Human eyes, God can choose to reveal himself to us and He does so not only in His word, His creation but also in the person of Jesus Christ, (God in the Flesh). God's creation demonstrates His existence, His word gives us a means by which we can study and get to know Him. It is through the spirit that we build our relationship with God, being changed in the inner man. That change can be evident in those who have accepted Jesus Christ has their Lord and Savior.
God has no image; therefore we should direct our worship to God not to man made symbols of worship. His son Jesus Christ points us toward God and by His death and resurrection has provided for us access to God for those that believe in the name of Christ Jesus.
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
1st Corinthians 2:10
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1st Corinthians 2:11
For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Luke 24:39
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
1st Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

God has always existed. God was not created. Before time was there was God. God is the originator and creator of everything.
God is complete within Himself there is nothing God needs; there is nothing God is lacking. He is complete within Himself.
His promises are complete and God has always been there and He will always be there
1st Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I Timothy 6:16
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Genesis 21:33
And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God.
Isaiah 57:15
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
I Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Thoughts#3270

God has perfect knowledge. God's knowledge is complete and eternal, knowing all things past, present and future. He knows all works from the beginning of the world and He knows our hearts. There is not a thought, action or deed that is hidden from God. And God knows how best to attain His desired ends. We can not hide things from God! God not only knows what is going on now but also past, present and future.
Psalm 147:4,5
He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Acts 15:18
Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
Psalm 33:13
The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
II Kings 13:19
And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
Jeremiah 38:17-20
Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand. And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me. But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the Lord, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be will unto thee, and thy soul shall live
Romans 4:17
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickened the dead, and calleth those things which be not though as they were.
Isaiah 46:10
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.
Matthew 11:21-23
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

I Samuel 23:5-14
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up. Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

God fills the universe with His presence. God is everywhere we are; He is right there with us. God sees everything that is happening to us. There is no place we can go where God is not already there.
When we sin He is there, when we do good He is there.  We need to be aware of God's presence in all aspects of our life, and use that to comfort us and to help us walk closer with Him.
Psalms 139:7-8
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

Jeremiah 23:23,24
Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? Saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? Saith the Lord.

1st Kings 8:27
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have buildeth?

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Thoughts#3268

God is able to do anything. He has the power to create and the power to forgive sin, with God nothing is impossible. God himself has virtually unlimited authority or influence.

This means that God can do whatever he says he will do. We need to place our trust in God's ability to keep His promises and to guide us in our lives.

We can apply this to our daily lives, by placing our trust in Christ Jesus. Jesus said He would always be with us and He is. If God says something will happen we can rest assured that it will happen. God has the power and sovereignty to make it happen. We can apply our trust by reading God's word the Bible. Knowing what God has claimed will come to pass including our Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Genesis 17:1
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Job 42:2
I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
Jeremiah 32:17,27
Ah Lord God! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
Luke 1:37
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Revelation 19:6
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

25 Jul 2014
Thoughts#3267

Love is the feeling which animates a person who is genuinely fond of someone or something.
God loves us, regardless of whether or not we love Him back. God's love for us is complete, so much so that He gave us the life of His only begotten son Christ Jesus, that we may live and spend eternity with Him.
When God loves, He looks at us with eternity in mind. His good purpose is that we spend eternity in relationship with him. That is different from the earthly love we show. We do not keep eternity in mind,  instead   we keep our thoughts on our earthly desires and use that as our measuring stick of love.
The Bible says “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things and love never fails”. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to truly learn to love one another.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Deuteronomy 7:7-8
The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you.
Romans 5:8
But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Thoughts#3266

Life is the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body. Life is the spiritual existence transcending physical death. Life is what God gave to man when He created us by making him a living soul. Everyone of us will have a physical death. For the Christian,  beyond physical death we will have spiritual life.
Genesis 1:20, 21
Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.". So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:24, 25
Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Joshua 3:10
And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
1st Thessalonians 1:9
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
Matthew 16:16
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
1st Samuel 17:26
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God is boundless, endless, immeasurable, indefinite, measureless, unbounded, unlimited, and unmeasured.

God's love, knowledge, power and wisdom are boundless. Creation gives us evidence of the existence of God. Creation is a display of the His powers. We can seek God through faith in Christ Jesus.
We worship God not His creations. We should not under estimate God's ability to act in our day to day lives. God was here before it all started and God will be here when it is finished .
Psalm 145:3
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
1st Kings 8:27
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built.
2nd Chronicles 2:5 & 6
And the house that I build is great: for great is our God above all Gods. But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? Who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
Psalm 102:27
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Thoughts#3264

God is constant, fixed, immovable. God is unchanging God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow..

God's character is constant and without change.

If we are having problems in our lives, we should first look to see if we have strayed from God's path are we no longer following or seeking after God?
We must remember that God will work things out for good according to His purposes for those that believe.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Malachi 3:6
For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Hebrews 6:17-18
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.
Psalm 102:27
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

21 Jul 2014 Thoughts#3263

21 Jul 2014
Thoughts#3263

God is holy, His nature is holy. He is pure and loving in His works. This also means God does not sin; He can not violate His nature and sin. Evil does not come from the hand of God.
Since God is holy, we should be holy. As the Bible tells us, “it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy”. We must remember this does not mean we are sinless, or that once saved will never sin again. But instead through the sacrifice of Jesus at the Cross of Calvary He imputed His righteousness to our account and therefore we should want to grow in our holiness as we build our relationship with Christ and grow in our love for one another.
1st Peter 1:15, 16
But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy.”
Psalm 99:9
Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His holy hill; For the Lord our God is holy.
Psalm 145:17
The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
Isaiah 6:3
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Revelation 4:8
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

God is Eternal

Eternity means lasting or enduring through all time. The Bible tells us our God is a God who was, is and is to come. The Bible refers to God as everlasting, the Ancient of Days. Before time God was, He has always been here and He will continue to be here long after the things of man are gone.
Since God does not have an end we should remember He will always be there with us regardless of our circumstances. He will always be there to comfort and guide us.

1st Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
1st John 5:20
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
1st Peter 5:10
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 -

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
It is wonderful to know that even though we are tempted over and over, God will never leave us or forsake us, and He rescues us again and again. He can enable us to recognize such traps and resist their allure.

The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you."
Luke 17:5-6

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
What Jesus was implying here for His disciples -- and for us today -- was that no force in the world is greater than the force of faith; even the smallest amount of it can do seemingly impossible things. Even faith that seems as small as a tiny mustard seed can do the seemingly impossible: "For nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:37 NIV) Conversely, without God, nothing is possible; that is, nothing of lasting value:

Philippians 4:19
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
Isaiah 41:10
God can do anything, you know -- far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!
Ephesians 3:20

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
It is easy to thank God for the good blessings, but we also need to thank Him for our difficult times as well. In every instance where something not so good has happened, we can still be thankful, because if we look closely enough, we can see that the problem could have been worse.

Thoughts#3257

I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Psalm 16:2,7,8

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
So many times, we wonder why our life is moving in the wrong direction, and no matter what we do, or whose counsel we seek, nothing seems to change for the better. In those circumstances, if we would recover our joy and peace, it is wisdom indeed to call upon the one Person in whom we can trust, and who always has our best interests at heart. And that person is Jesus.

14 Jul 2014
Thoughts#3256

We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins.
Romans 3:22
I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me. Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.
Matthew 25:43,45b

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Our position in Christ, however, is more important than our place. After describing how terrible we are without Christ in Romans 3, Paul reminds us in today's verse how wonderful it is once we accept Him. Through faith, we are made right with Christ: our position. Neither troubling financial situations, nor broken relationships, nor unfortunate decisions, nor even prison can change who we are in Christ. In Him, there are no prisoners.

Thoughts#3255

God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and vows are two things that can never be changed. We have run to God for safety. Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us.
Hebrews 6:18
Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are.
1 Peter 5:8-9
My dear friends, don't believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of lying preachers loose in the world.
1 John 4:1

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
This verse says we are to weigh carefully and to examine what comes our way. Does it line up with Scripture? If it does, we can trust it. Let's be aware of the lies and discrepancies that are sent our way. God cannot lie. He is truth. Let's run to Him for safety. Let's be encouraged by these truths.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me."
Psalm 51:10

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
The mentality of cleaning up our heart can apply to every area of our life -- marriage, family, work, relationships, and even self-image.
Today's verse reminds us how we should desire a clean heart. When David prays this prayer, he desires a new heart, a clean heart, and a spirit that desires to be like Christ. David knew that the only way he could achieve a clean heart, was through the power of Christ. We must ask God to create a new heart, a clean heart, within us and believe that as a result, our spirits will be renewed.

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.
James 5:15
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Praying for others is often the only way we have of ministering to them. The Bible is filled with many instances of prayers of the faithful being answered. In living a life of faith in God through Jesus Christ, we are called to have concern for others. In some instances, all we can do is pray. It will open our hearts toward God, and through faith, it is possible that the other person may be helped.

Isaiah 30:21

On this journey called life, let us daily read our Bible to know what God expects. Let us also spend time in prayer daily and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit so we will know the way to go.

Let's focus today on doing what's best Let's focus on the power in our prayers. Our intercession, and nothing more, might be exactly what God desires. Let's not forget that we can offer the most help when we pray.

But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."
1 Timothy 6:11-12

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Sometimes it is hard to understand why God asks us to think a certain way, do certain things, or refrain from doing other things that are not indicative of someone living for Christ. That is where our faith must come in. Faith is our motivation to abide by the spiritual curfews that God outlines in His Word

Romans 12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Romans 12:3
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Pride of accomplishment is normal, but keeping humble about it comes only through faith, for true humility comes through prayer -- it is given to us by God.

Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters.
Isaiah 43:16

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
The fog of life can surround us in such a way that we cannot see our way out of it. It can lift, but then seem to drop again to face the next challenge of life. Thus, even when we are faced with fog in our lives -- and we all will experience it at some time or another -- we can hold fast to God. Even greater is the One who stepped out of the darkness and rescued us. Our hope rests in our Lord and Saviour.

How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.
Psalm 19:12

Thoughts on Today's Verse..
Sin in our lives does not go away on its own. We must acknowledge that it is there, and then repent and ask the Lord to cleanse us of it.

Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him
Proverbs 30:5
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Today's Scripture verse from Proverbs makes a powerful statement  and so full of promise for those who put their trust in God! To put trust in means to believe in, hope in, have confidence in, have faith in, rely on, and depend on.
