Thoughts#3225
He was oppressed and
afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his
mouth.
Isaiah 53:7
Then the high priest
stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What
is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" But Jesus
remained silent and gave no answer.
Mark 14:60-61a
Then Pilate asked
him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?"
But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge -- to the great amazement
of the governor.
Matthew 27:13-14
When Herod saw
Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave
him no answer
Luke 23:8a,9
... a time to be
silent and a time to speak, ...
Ecclesiastes 3:7b
Thoughts on Today's
Verse...
Jesus demonstrated
the wisdom of Ecclesiastes as witnesses gave their false testimony to convict
Him. He did not need to justify Himself but endured to the end, trusting in the
perfect will of His heavenly Father. With God's guidance and grace, we also can
discern when the time is best to speak out and when silence is a more effective
witness for Christ.
