Habakkuk 2:3
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

Waiting is an important part of serving God. It's His will that matters, not our own. We may be living in unsettling times, but God will decide when He wants finally to intervene. There is nothing that we can do but hope and pray, stand and wait.

Thoughts#3408

Psalm 119:130
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

John 1:5
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

We sometimes experience times of adversity: neglect, disharmony, deep grief, or a myriad of things that thrust us into a dimming situation. It is not always easy to keep the light on in our darkest hours. In such times, it is not unusual to question His presence, threatening our ability to stay strong in our faith while working through our problems.
But just like that little light in the dim doorway, we need to keep God's light shining in our hearts and minds. We need to keep the hope that one day, too, our door to better times will be opened.
Whether in good or troubled times, by keeping His light shining within us, we then are shining examples for others.

12 Dec 2014 Thoughts#3407

12 Dec 2014
Thoughts#3407

Hebrews 3:12-14
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.

When life becomes wearisome, it is for a good reason.  It may be pride, anger, sorrow, disillusionment, something negative that we watch or read, or maybe stress caused by differences with those we love, work with, or maybe even worship.
Whatever the cause, we have a Creator God who knows our frailties of mind, body, and soul. He can see when we are out of alignment with Him and His way. If we recognize the need ourselves, when we are rubbing up against the brakes in some manner, and seek Him to be realigned, Jesus will fix us up and put us straight.
Then, even if our circumstances stay the same, Jesus in us will change our perspective, our resolve, our willingness, and our ability to overcome, so that we can continue on the Way, safe in Him, wherever that leads, up hill or down dale.

11 Dec 2014
Thoughts#3406

Matthew 5:45b
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

God has no favourites and that through His mercy, He showers blessings upon people whether or not they deserve them. We tend to be more judgmental and critical, but Christ is telling us that for grace to be grace, it has to be applied where it is least expected. In other words, God gives every opportunity for souls and spirits to grow under His care.

Therefore, let's try to find opportunities of applying God's grace with the people we meet today. Let's do it where it's least expected and totally undeserved. In doing so, we may rediscover the joy of God's grace that we also don't deserve.

10 Dec 2014 Thoughts#3405

10 Dec 2014
Thoughts#3405

Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Most of us do not like suffering. When our life takes a turn from the normal, we often end up acting out. We may yowl and holler in frustration as we rail against the situation. When this doesn't bring the desired change, bad temper and pity parties may make their entrance, followed by a stage of plea bargaining with God to open the doors of whatever suffering has us confined within such an intolerable situation.

We read our Bible more. We pray continually. We do every good act of mercy we can manage, yet still, the constraint of suffering is not lifted.

Perhaps, it's because the journey is not yet over, a journey which God has allowed us to embark upon that we might become larger -- more mature people -- spiritually.

Thoughts#3404

Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted

The emphasis on the Scripture verse, those who mourn are said to be "blessed", and at the end, they are "comforted". So it is, as we journey through all of our various mournings and grievings. Our tears may be sweet or bitter, but God blesses them all. So, let us feel free to mourn and grieve, and shed our tears in repentance for sin, or for the loss of a beloved one, or in pity, shame, or hurt.

08 Dec 2014 Thoughts#3403

08 Dec 2014
Thoughts#3403

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

Most of us bear the scars of those who have hurt us in one way or another. Some of these wounds can be fairly superficial, while others can be deep and long-lasting. Such wounds can rob us of healthy relationships with others, as well as our own inner peace, confidence, and joy. When we choose to believe and embrace the words of Scripture, however, it is amazing the comfort and direction which is available to each and every one of us -- no matter how much we have suffered or struggled with.

God is our comfort. He is able, amidst it all, to guide and lead and direct, to touch and heal, and to restore that which has been stolen. With restoration also comes ministry, as in Christ we become vessels of comfort and healing to others.

Thoughts#3402

Exodus 14:12
Didn't we say to you in Egypt, "Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians"? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!

Perhaps some of us are struggling with an issue from the past or are deeply troubled about our present circumstances. Maybe we're pining for the good old days or fearful of what lies ahead. Whatever we are experiencing, it's time to surrender it all to Christ and place it in His hands. Being depressed about the past or anxious about the future just saps our energy, well-being, and health. When we put ourselves in Christ's arms, He embraces us and all our baggage. He promises to help us through the emotional wilderness and to lead each of us to a better life, a more hopeful time, and a brighter day. I know this to be true.

John 15:8
This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

The fruit of the Spirit produced in our lives become more noticeable as they are improved.
To improve our fruit of the Spirit, we need to partner with God in the various acts of ministry. As we work in partnership with Him, there will be indicators in our lives that we are becoming more Christlike. As we grow, we also rejoice in the spiritual fruit in the lives of those with whom we share life's journey.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

God's ways often seem foolish to the wise of this world, but only God's ways lead to life and godliness.

04 Dec 2014 Thoughts#3399

04 Dec 2014
Thoughts#3399

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers.

2 Kings 19:14
Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.

Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.

Very often when we have a problem, we worry about it until I'm at our wit's end. Then when all else fails, we pray.
Hezekiah gives us a good example to follow. In 2 Kings chapter 19, he received a letter from a messenger of the King of Assyria, challenging him to surrender Jerusalem or be destroyed. When Hezekiah read it, he went to the house of the Lord and prayed, asking the Lord to save Jerusalem. Through the prophet Isaiah, God had already promised deliverance. Hezekiah followed instructions. His prayer was answered. Instead of worrying, Hezekiah saved his energy by turning to God first.
Like Hezekiah, we, too, can turn to God first and ask, rather than wasting all our time and energy in worrying about the situation

Thoughts#3398

Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Often in our spiritual lives, we question God when we don't understand what is happening.

God invites us to ask Him questions and to reason life's issues out with Him.
Let's respond to His invitation to communicate with Him, to ask Him the hard questions in life. My understanding of His request is that to "reason together" is a two-way communication. So maybe, we need to be ready to hear some hard questions as well, along with answers to our own questions.

Thoughts#3397

Micah 5:4-5a
He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace.

Some of us may be going through hard times and be stressed out and weary. We may feel frightened or confused about the issues we are facing. We may be angry or distressed at being hurt or disappointed. During those times, amid the clamour of our concerns, the gentle voice of peace and assurance comes to us from Jesus. He knows the issues; He understands our worries. He's had time to think about them; and now He has gentle thoughts to express to our hearts and minds. If we quietly take time out, we will hear His voice. If we turn towards Him now, He will gently speak to us.

Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Despite the occurrence of disease and epidemics that have taken the lives of untold millions, human beings continue to survive.

Let us marvel at the foresight of God who prepared our bodies to interact with the physical world and to deal with viruses, bacteria, and protozoan parasites -- all of which, without these defences, would have made our species extinct. Yes, we are "fearfully and wonderfully made"!

Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

When we let go and let God, we find His protection and guidance sufficient for our daily lives. Through faith, we know that He is in charge of life.

Thoughts#3394

Deuteronomy 6:5-9
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

We Christians, like planting trees and passing their fruit on through the generations, need to keep telling the story of God's love for us, and how, every day, we should keep on talking about this story and passing it along.
Think of it as a legacy to enjoy, and keep on telling God's stories handed down through our Bibles to this generation and to generations yet to come, carrying on with our Christian beliefs and traditions.

Galatians 5:25
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit

Christians are keeping in step with God's Holy Spirit. We go through our life's journeys from beginning to end, usually at our own pace. In the best of times and the worst of times, we still journey on, until we come to a dead stop.
Here we know that there is a better way to get through life -- a life that is lived in step with the Holy Spirit -- a life designed so that the fruits of the Spirit can be ours for the taking.
The qualities of the Holy Spirit we can experience and accomplish -  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness

Thoughts#3389

Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

God uses a rod and staff, much like a shepherd does, to correct and comfort us. How does a shepherd use a rod? The rod could be thrown great distances to take down a predator. The rod was also used for discipline, correcting a wayward sheep. The staff must be strong with a hook at the end, suitable for removing a sheep from thorny or dangerous situations. In the hands of the Good Shepherd, we can rely on protection, salvation, and yes, discipline. God is there for us in the shadows, but we may well face a huge learning curve.

1 Peter 5:7

17 Nov 2014
Thoughts#3382

God cannot be seen with Human eyes, God can choose to reveal himself to us and He does so not only in His word, His creation but also in the person of Jesus Christ, (God in the Flesh). God's creation demonstrates His existence, His word gives us a means by which we can study and get to know Him. It is through the spirit that we build our relationship with God, being changed in the inner man. That change can be evident in those who have accepted Jesus Christ has their Lord and Savior.
God has no image; therefore we should direct our worship to God not to man made symbols of worship. His son Jesus Christ points us toward God and by His death and resurrection has provided for us access to God for those that believe in the name of Christ Jesus.
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
1st Corinthians 2:10
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
1st Corinthians 2:11
For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Luke 24:39
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Romans 1:20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
1st Timothy 1:17
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

God is complete within Himself there is nothing God needs; there is nothing God is lacking. He is complete within Himself.
His promises are complete and God has always been there and He will always be there
1st Timothy 1:17

I Timothy 6:16

Psalm 90:2

Genesis 21:33

Isaiah 57:15
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Deuteronomy 33:27

Thoughts#3380

God has perfect knowledge. God's knowledge is complete and eternal, knowing all things past, present and future. He knows all works from the beginning of the world and He knows our hearts. There is not a thought, action or deed that is hidden from God. And God knows how best to attain His desired ends. We can not hide things from God! God not only knows what is going on now but also past, present and future.
Psalm 147:4,5
He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Acts 15:18
Known to God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
Psalm 33:13
The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
II Kings 13:19
And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
Jeremiah 38:17-20
Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand. And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me. But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the Lord, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be will unto thee, and thy soul shall live
Romans 4:17
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickened the dead, and calleth those things which be not though as they were.
Isaiah 46:10
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.
Matthew 11:21-23
Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

I Samuel 23:5-14
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up. Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

13 Nov 2014
Thoughts#3378

God is able to do anything. He has the power to create and the power to forgive sin, with God nothing is impossible. God himself has virtually unlimited authority or influence.

This means that God can do whatever he says he will do. We need to place our trust in God's ability to keep His promises and to guide us in our lives.

We can apply this to our daily lives, by placing our trust in Christ Jesus. Jesus said He would always be with us and He is. If God says something will happen we can rest assured that it will happen. God has the power and sovereignty to make it happen. We can apply our trust by reading God's word the Bible. Knowing what God has claimed will come to pass including our Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Thoughts#3377

Love is the feeling which animates a person who is genuinely fond of someone or something.
God loves us, regardless of whether or not we love Him back. God's love for us is complete, so much so that He gave us the life of His only begotten son Christ Jesus, that we may live and spend eternity with Him.
When God loves, He looks at us with eternity in mind. His good purpose is that we spend eternity in relationship with him. That is different from the earthly love we show. We do not keep eternity in mind,  instead   we keep our thoughts on our earthly desires and use that as our measuring stick of love.
The Bible says “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things and love never fails”. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to truly learn to love one another.
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Deuteronomy 7:7-8
The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you.
Romans 5:8
But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
