HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Terms of obedience

Regardless of how painful the surrender of our will may seem, obedience to God saves us from unhappy loss in this world and irrecoverable loss in the world to come.

Proverbs 14 : 12 reminds us that a sinful insistence on self-will can be self-destructive.

Trustful obedience to God’s way brings blessing both now and forever.

King Saul blatantly disobeyed God’s instructions, then told Samuel the priest, “I have performed the commandment of the Lord” (1Samuel 15 : 13). When Samuel challenged him, Saul declared his innocence. God saw it differently and removed Saul from the throne of Israel because of his willful disobedience.

When you identify yourself as a citizen of God’s kingdom, you must follow His definitions without tailoring them to suit your own ideas. That is obedience.

1 Samuel 15 : 22
To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
