Stand firm
The world tells us to compromise for our personal gain, but the Bible tells us to stand firm for our faith not matter what the world says.
It is easy to compromise and conform.
You are lonely if you stand alone but our faith tells us to be firm
1 Corinthians 16 : 13 - 14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

Be faithful
We are thankful to God and always praise HIM for HIS faithfulness. We must also consider the fact that HE needs us to be faithful too.
God needs people He can count on. He needs faithful and wise stewards He can trust. He needs faithful believers to team up with, to manifest Himself in the earth more than ever before.
Luke 12:42
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

Trust HIM
Sometimes you are faced with a problem so big that you have to worry about it. You may not be able to solve it but it seems you need at least to feel concerned about it. The best thing to do in such a situation is to give it to God. Let HIM be the one who is concerned about it. You can trust HIM to do it well. HE cares for all of us.
1 Peter 5:7

Trust HIM
How can you be sure that you are saved ?
It is not enough to ask Jesus to come to live within us and forgive our sins.
We must
believe that He will do exactly what He promised to do. By faith, we must be able to say, "I know that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for my sins, that He was raised from the dead and that He will come into my life and change me if I ask Him to. I know that He will make me His child and never leave me because all of these are promises from God's holy, inspired Word. Therefore, I believe the promise of Ephesians 2:8,9 - that I attain salvation through trust in Christ."
It is not enough to ask Christ into our lives; we must believe His promise, "For by grace you have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8, NAS).
Ephesians 2 : 8 - 9
Because of His kindness you have been saved through trusting Christ. And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it.

Managing your anger
Anger that is not dealt with brings poison into your soul and gives the enemy of your soul a foothold. God doesn't tell us to never be angry. He does tell us to deal with our anger so it will not poison us (Ephesians 4:26, 27).
We often have to live with the consequence of another person's action against us, whether we want to or not. But how do you choose ?
whether in the downward spiral of bitterness
or in the forward journey of forgiveness.

Pray for others
When we pray we communicate with God. What do we pray about ?? Do you just pray for yourself only ?? Do you also pray for others ?
Yes, we need to set aside a time for prayer of intercession.
Jesus rhetorically asked, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Matthew 6:27), yet tells us through James that, "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).
On the one hand, there is nothing we can do, but on the other hand, our All Powerful God is ready to work, in seemingly hopeless circumstances, when we pray.
Prayer of intercession is intentional and time-consuming
1 Timothy 2 : 1
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone.

DO NOT DO IT
You are living your life set before you, moving ahead with God’s blessing at every step of the way. Then suddenly, you hit an obstacle. It may be sickness or financial trouble, spiritual failure or family problems. But, regardless of the form it stops you cold.
What do you do in such a situation ?
Are you tempted to quit?
Are you tempted to turn back in defeat ?
DO NOT DO IT
God will enable you to break through that obstacle and keep right on going.
It is not easy to do it and it is tough. You have to push on through the tough times if you are ever going to have a breakthrough. You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you!

What is faith made of ?
Our faith is not made just to experience the nice things in life. Sometimes we experience obstacles and difficulties. It is during such period in our lives that we discover what our faith is made of.
When the Israelites left Egypt, they were thrilled to move into the promise of a better future. Soon they began to complain. They had forgotten God's faithfulness and provision. They had forgotten the promise.
When God gives us a promise, we must exercise our patience and wait for it to happen We always need to walk it out. It is in the journey that character is revealed and built.
What makes the difference, however, is how we pass through.
Our attitude determines how long we have to wait, whether we spend 40 days or 40 years in the desert.
Psalm 84 : 6
As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs.

Be patient
Waiting to see the real evidence of divine action is very frustrating.
A person can spend days asking God for release from a stressful situation.
A person can pray for weeks for a special gift
Timing is important in the Christian life because God is orchestrating events to work for His children's good. In the meantime, He rewards those who remain constant in their vigil.
If we run ahead of Him, we will miss out on developing spiritual endurance. Though God's Spirit remains with us, He will not provide strength for us to live outside His will.
Waiting means times of fear, stress, or grief, which will weary us quickly unless we are depending on an eternal energy source. Those feelings may intensify our desire to push forward, but the Lord has promised protection and provision for our times of waiting. If we turn to Him in our hour of need, He will give us the tools to triumph. (Psalm 37:34, 39 - 40)
Isaiah 40:29 – 31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

HE is in every situation
If you have just experienced the roughest patch in your life, please be assured that it is
a part of God’s plan and that nothing can touch our lives without HIS permission.
God never causes us to sin, nor does He lure us to disobey. His purposes are to rescue us from sin's power (Colossians 1:13) and transform us into Jesus' likeness. (Romans 8:29)
When we are down, God will reveal to us our weaknesses, faults, and pride. His Spirit will convict us of wrongdoing and lead us to true repentance. He will teach us the consequences of disobedience and the wonders of His forgiving nature.
God is present in everyone’s lives, whether believer or unbeliever.
HE is involved with unbelievers in a different way, continually extending His love to them in order to convict them of sin and their need for a Savior.
Psalm 34 : 7

Be committed to obey HIM
Obedience is a mark of our ability to trust God, especially when it comes to facing serious decisions or important challenges. God may direct us along a certain course, but we find ourselves doubting His ability to protect and deliver us safely. However, a person who lives by faith will continue moving forward as Abraham did without yielding to feelings of doubt or fear. The greatest benefit of obedience is blessing. God always rewards obedience with great blessing.
Be convinced that God will fulfill every promise
The ultimate question is not "Will God do what He promised?", but "Am I willing to trust Him even though His timetable is not my own?"

Jesus tells us not to judge. We do not accomplish anything by criticism. It is not possible to communicate with God when we are in a critical temper. By being critical, we place ourselves in a superior person’s place. Do not measure others. “ If I see the mote in your eye, it means I have a beam in my own. Spend more time reading HIS word
How much do we give priority to Scripture in our personal and professional life ?
We get deeper satisfaction in time spent in Bible studies than in other pleasures and hobbies. The extent to which the Scripture is involved in our decision-making, shows how firm we are to withstand the storms of life (Psalm 1 : 3). In addition we will also produce abundant spiritual fruits (Galatians 5 : 22-23). We will readily accept God’s will for our lives, and we become more patient to follow HIS ways. We become less anxious and when fear arises, we will rest in God’s sufficiency (Philippians 4 : 13)
As we focus and rely more on biblical principles and adjusting our behaviour to the Lord’s standards, and finding more time and patience in accepting our friends’ and neighbours’ way of life, godliness will characterize us more and more
Psalm 119:1 - 7
Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.

There is no circumstance or situation which is beyond the ability of God to control. The promises of God are both general and specific, so that they will meet the need of every heart and life.

Be humble
It should be our objective that all should strive as long as we live, following the example of our Lord recorded in Philippians, chapter 2.
To be poor in spirit implies not only that we have a humble opinion of ourselves, but also that we recognize that we are sinners and have no righteousness of our own;
that we are willing to be saved only by the grace and mercy of God;
that we are willing to serve where God places us, to bear the burdens He allows and to stay in His hands and admit that we deserve no favor from Him.
We are assured of happiness when we are making conscious efforts toward humility. All of this becomes possible as we yield to God's indwelling Holy Spirit.

Continuous conversion .
We must continually turn to God as children all days of our lives. If we trust our wits instead of God, we face consequences for which God will hold us responsible. God puts us responsible every time we refuse to convert ourselves. We refuse because of our pride and stubbornness. We must let God rule our lives. We idolize independence and freedom which God considers as stubbornness, and what we consider strength is weakness to God.
We must continually subject ourselves to conversion and allow the Spirit of God to work in us.

Crisis
Crisis often brings us closer to God because it reminds us that He has total control. All of our hopes and expectations depend upon His mercy and grace. “Why you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14)
It’s important that we must understand that divine sovereignty does not mean that everything that occurs in the world is God’s will. Solomon, who grew wise from his own mistakes, finally realized, “I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
God does not want calamity to happen to us. We encounter so many obstacles in life mainly due to the choices and decision that we made. The many incidences where we escape unharmed should remind us of how great God is. We must know that there are important lessons to learn from such experiences. Although we may have the freedom to make our own decision and choices, we need to submit to God’s sovereign will. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (II Corinthians 3:17)
Psalm 109 : 21
But you, O Sovereign Lord, deal well with me for Your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me

Taking risks
In Matthew 14 : 22-33 we were told that Peter walked on water. Peter had no trouble walking on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus. As long as his total focus was on Christ, he was fine. When he allowed himself to be distracted by human fears, he fell !
When doubts prevent us from obeying God, we will fail. When we step out in faith, God always assumes full responsibility for the consequences of our obedience.
Remember we fail because we do not obey
Matthew 14:22 - 23
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone
(Stops & Steps 0854 10II2009)
In Matthew 14 : 22-33 we were told that Peter walked on water. Peter had no trouble walking on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus. As long as his total focus was on Christ, he was fine. When he allowed himself to be distracted by human fears, he fell !
When doubts prevent us from obeying God, we will fail. When we step out in faith, God always assumes full responsibility for the consequences of our obedience.

The new versus the old
In our natural inclination we do not have a hunger for God. It is the Holy Spirit who sends conviction and creates within our human heart a desire for God
As Jesus put it, "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me, draws him" (John 6:44).
- no one is righteous.
- no one understands the things of God;
- no one seeks God.
The natural man depends on his own resources, his own wisdom, to find meaning and purpose in his life. This leads to conflict, discord and frustration.
The man who trusts in God has the privilege of depending on God everyday, for joy, peace, love. These provide him the meaning and purpose of life.
Romans 3:10-12
As it is written:
There is no-one righteous, not even one; there is no-one who understands, no-one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no-one who does good, not even one.

Powerful prayer
The power of prayer is in God's reaction.
A righteous persons prays and his prayers are answered
A passionate person, believing that God will intercede will pray through every barrier that Satan erects. He stops only when God answers or if the Father makes clear that the request is outside His will.
Wise believers devote time and energy to requests of great importance. Through our relationship with Christ, we have been made righteous, which means that we have the opportunity to tap the Lord's supernatural power through prayer.
James 5 : 16
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much

Lessons to be learnt
When we face challenging times, God is always there to protect and guide us. HE wants to teach and guide us through the difficulty. We must always be ready to respond when HE calls.
We must have a real longing to follow God’s way and HIS way only. This longing should be like “a deer panting for water” (Psalm 42: 1)
We must be willing to be taught by God who will transform trials into times of learning for those who look to Him for guidance. We must have willing spirit if we want to learn from GOD and HE will teach us according to HIS ways and at HIS own timings. When God chooses to teach us it may not be in a comfortable, pleasurable setting. HE may choose pain and trouble as the place of instruction.
Hannah pleaded for a child (1 Samuel 1:1 - 2:10).
Mary and Martha when their brother Lazurus died. (John 11:17 - 27)
We must yield to His will. We must commit ourselves to HIS ways before we can come to know God’s solution.
The Lord calls us to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) and
to acknowledge our helplessness without Him. (John 15:5)
Psalm 34:1 - 19
I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me: let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to thebroken-heartedand saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

Peace
Is your life in chaos? Are you filled with anger, fear and desperation ?
All these came to an end once I gave control of my life to Jesus. I was overwhelmed with peace beyond description. This peace carried me through the most difficult time I had ever faced.
Remember you have hope in Jesus. Turn to HIM today and ask for HIS help and guidance.
John 14 : 27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Follow HIM
We must let go and let God take control.
Joseph was a righteous man, God-fearing and honorable. So when God interrupted his life with a nearly unbelievable message, we read that "he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him."
When we choose to follow Jesus Christ's leading, we can be sure that our lives will be disturbed. Joseph's life certainly was disturbed. As he chose to obey God's call, he not only found further divine guidance in crisis moments, but he was also blessed beyond measure to live in the presence of the Infant who would be called Jesus, the Savior.
Matthew 1 : 24

Spur one another
Although modern technology has shrunk our world, our busy lives keep us from connecting regularly with each other. We should intentionally set out to encourage each other with by telephone calls, emails and personal visits. A short message of hope can be a beacon of light in this dark world.
We cannot live the Christian life on our own.
Hebrews 10 : 24 - 25
Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching

What comes after a trial
Have you ever thought that tomorrow is not promised !!
We may have all the luxuries in life but these may be taken away from us the next moment - like a natural disaster may strike to destroy all our possessions, a terrorist attack to remove all that we dearly treasured.
Many of us may realized that the nice cars, luxury homes and many other dreams that we have been chasing are just not all the important. It is time to understand that serving God is much more important than chasing our own desires. “For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” (I John 2:16-17) Proverbs 23:5 reminds us that we really can not depend on wealth. “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.” Jesus said that riches can literally choke you to death. “As they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.” (Luke 8:14)
It is not a sin to want to have nice things. It is a sin when the want for these things becomes our god. “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” (I Timothy 6:17-19)
Take time to plan and prioritize your life.
James 4 : 14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Making decisions
Little decisions or changes peppered throughout the day may cause the results to be negative or positive.
Those little changes you make in your spiritual life may also cause the same consequences. Such small changes... conscious little choices push your walk with God in one direction or another - small decision to let God in or to hold Him at a distance. Small changes of attitude; little choices of purity in thoughts or choices of entertainment cause a shift in the relationship with God
Always invite God and make HIM involve in all our decisions, be in small or big and we will be able to see a different result.
Psalm 51 : 10
Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a right spirit within me
