Be alert all the time
Be careful of your words. We have to be careful of what we say not just for a few hours or a few days, but all the time. It is not an easy task !! As time progresses, the circumstances around you may not have changed so it can be hard to keep up with our best behaviour. We need to put patience to work and put on our best behaviour at all times.
Proverbs 21:23
He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles.

My reaction
When God calls on me, how do I react?
I do not discuss spiritual matters with others when God speaks to me. For me belief is a moral act and not an intellectual one. I devote myself absolutely on God and do what HE says.
It is the surrender of the will, not a surrender to persuasive power. My relationship with God is a personal one, not intellectual. First it is my own will to believe God and then God works on me to get an intelligent appreciation and understanding of the wonder of the transaction
John 6 : 44
No-one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

Effective prayer
The most effective way to change one’s life is prayer - praying HIS specific will for yourself or for your loved ones. We are reminded in Colossians 1 on how God delights in responding to requests that someone be filled with knowledge of HIS will and a desire to please HIM
We need to wait patiently for HIM to answer. HE is working to build you or your loved ones’ spiritual understanding. HE wants us to be faithful.
Colossians 1: 9 - 12
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

Be warned
As we busy ourselves in our daily lives, let us remember the many examples of disobedience and punishment set by the ancient people as they wandered through the wilderness.. These people were lost in the wilderness because they disappointed God.
Let us take notice of these warnings and avoid doing anything these people did as in doing evil, worshipping idols, engage in immorality, or complaining.
1 Corinthians 10:1-5
For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptised into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.

Expiry date
People turn their backs to God’s call for salvation. Some may be too proud to respond to God’s call. Just wonder how long would God continue to knock on the door before HE stops. Worse still, you may fail to recognize the knock for what it is.
John 6 : 44
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day
Romans 1:18-19, 28-32
I believe God’s offer of salvation can expire, too, much like canned food or a packet of sweets . While it’s not always the case, the Bible does not teach that the call to salvation will be offered repeatedly. The Apostle Paul in writing to the church at Rome hints at what can happen when an unbeliever ignores God’s call upon his life:
“For the wrath of God,” he wrote, “is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them…And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

Problem solving
We encounter problems every day of our life, irrespective of our religion, language or race. God strengthens every Christian to face every difficulty. !
God knows every future circumstances and prepares us to withstand the trial. Once I come across a problem, I go to God and seek HIS wisdom and directions. Once I did that, the problem is contained and I can trust God to help me resolve the situation. I only need to act on my faith and God always gives a solution to the problem.
Whether we are troubled, under crisis or in peaceful times, we must build a strong foundation of trust and communion with God. This relationship will withstand any hardship.
Problems in our daily lives are unavoidable but God is faithful to solve our difficulties through prayers.

My life
I do not consider my life to be only breathing, eating, thinking, working, getting rich, sleeping; plodding through each day. The reason : the Bible warns us, "[A] man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (Luke 12:15 ).
For me life is more than adding up of our assets and achievements. It is my survival here on earth. It shows passion and purpose which I found in Jesus Christ. HE gives me a picture of what life is all about, it is about light and hope. I have found life in Jesus
to have no fear of death,
to be full of abundance,
to be eternal
John 14 : 6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 1 : 4
In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.
John 10 : 10
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 11 : 25 - 26

In our daily encounters, we come across many desperation situations - a colleague who is going through great hardship, a neighbour battling a difficult circumstance in health, relationship or finance. What do we do ?? We pray, don’t we ??
God knows the ups and downs of every life. HE knows when there is little or no influence of God in a life or situation. HE works on this earth through the prayers of HIS people so HE puts HIS people where prayer is needed.
Ephesians 6 : 18

Peter did not wait on God, he forecast in his mind where the test would come, and the test came where he did not expect it.

In difficult times
When I go through a hard time, my experience is both physical and spiritual. And it is during this period of hardship that I must remember that God always cares for me.
If you experience physical suffering, it is difficult to see the hand of God. We need to offer praise to God, believing that “all things do work together for our good if we love God and are called according to HIS purpose”. By believing and trusting God, we increase our faith.
If you experience spiritual suffering, trace your steps back to the point in time when you wondered away from God and believe that “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
Whatever you may be experiencing, go to God for HIS blessing and be assured that HE cares for you.
Psalm 37 : 19
He cares for them when times are hard; even in famine, they will have enough

What does it mean to be hungry ?
Being hungry is more than a stomach growling for food. It is more than a heart longing for approval. It is more than a deep desire to succeed. It also means our spirit longing for something that will satisfy.
Jesus described Himself as bread to help us to understand that we need Him to live. Knowing Jesus and being in relationship with Him gives us the food necessary for life.
We need to be in constant communion with Jesus. We need to read the Word of God everyday.
John 6:63
Jesus goes on to say, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life"
John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty"
John 6:48 -- 51
I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. Walk by Faith
To believe the Bible to be true and the miracles of the Bible to be true is a matter of faith. To believe upon Jesus for salvation is a matter of faith. Everything about Christianity requires faith.
What is faith ?
It is the belief, the devotion, the trust in somebody or something without having to rely on logical proof.
When I believe and receive Jesus as my Saviour, I am acting on faith.
When I pray, I am acting on faith.
Faith is about everyday living, believing that God is real and that He makes a difference in my life. I walk by faith and I live a life of faith.

Seek HIS help
We do not live a trouble free life. In fact, Jesus said that in this world we would have trouble (John 16:33). We need not fear trouble nor be overcome by it. HE would be our shelter during the storms of life.
In whatever situations or circumstances, know that God promises to be a shelter for you. Let us ask God to help us to seek HIM and walk with HIM. Ask God to help us to study HIS word and guide us to HIM. Tell God that we can bring all our cares and concerns and decisions to HIM and HE will empower us with divine strength
Psalm 91:1
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust

What is a spiritual hypocrite ?
When we see other folks fall, we discriminate, mock and criticize them instead of interceding on their behalf. By doing such acts, we are not listening to the way the Spirit of God works in us.
Do you take the burden of these souls before God ?
1 John 5:16
If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.

Are you happy with what you are doing ?
You may be successful in your profession, having taken steps to advance in your area of expertise, and had found your work gratifying. There may be times when you become frustrated and angry and complained of doing work that does not bring you any satisfaction.
Spend some time each day with God and ask Him to look into every aspect of the job adds new life and meaning to what you are doing. Very often we seek satisfaction in the wrong places.
Isaiah 55
Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Effective prayer
It is known that some people are more effective in their prayers than others. It is recognized that prayer is a vital aspect of our faith.
We must pray according to His will.
Prayers will only be answered according to God’s will. We must pray according to what we believe God’s will to be. In Romans 8 : 26 – 27, we are told that the Spirit actually translates our prayers into the prayers that should be said according to God’s will.
We must believe that God will answer our prayers in accordance with His will. Hebrews 11 : 6 and Romans 4 : 20 – 21 tell us that it is a matter of the heart, and a matter of faith.
We must pray and ask in Jesus’ name.
We must pray continuously and without ceasing.
1 John 5:14-15.
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
Romans 8:26-27.
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Matthew 21:21-22.
So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
Matthew 14:13-14
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

According to HIS plan
No matter what physical condition you may be in, whether you are a diabetic, or a cancer patient, you must hold on to God’s promises of a plan for your life. Pray to God and ask to be healed and also for His plan for your life. You must continue to study God’s word and step out in faith, trusting God would use you according to His plan for you.
Proverbs 3 : 5 - 6

Meditation
We encounter moments of challenge or discomfort every moment of our life and meditation is the key to remain strong and fruitful during each trying circumstances. Each day as we read the Word, we must ask God to show us by His Spirit what a passage means and how we can apply His words to our life. We act as we receive whatever action He impresses on our minds.
Meditation is focusing on God’s Word, learning more and increasing our thirst for Him. By doing so, we will reap the spiritual benefits of increased discernment and a clear sense of purpose.
God is always with us. No matter how difficult the challenge we may be facing, God will always sustain us.
Psalm 145:1 - 5
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no-one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendour of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

The price to pay for not waiting
We like to be in charge of our own lives. To be committed to God’s calling and to wait upon God challenges us because it requires that we put aside our present lifestyles and instead submit to Him.
If we do not wait on the Lord
We will find ourselves out of His will. "Apart from Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5).Our self - efforts, which are accomplished without God's leading, do not please Him.
We do not get His blessings.
Being outside His purpose delays His planned blessing. Divine reward is promised to those who believe in the Savior and are obedient to Him. (Ephesians 6:8) To obey requires that we wait on the Lord for both instruction and timing before responding.
It cost Moses his home in Egypt.
Our independent lifestyle can bring us unnecessary pain, can also cause others heartache and suffering. We may suffer loss in relationships, finances, and future opportunities.
Exodus 2:11 – 15
One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, "Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?" The man said, "Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and thought, "What I did must have become known." When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well.

HE feeds my soul.

Free from sins
We can be forgiven of our sins and can be purified of any stains of sin!! We can be made clean and new again. That is God’s grace and perfect sacrifice for our sins
Let us now ask God to forgive us of any lack of passion to love and to forgive others. Ask God to teach us how to forgive others in the same way He has so graciously forgiven us.
1 John 1 : 9

Waiting patiently
We do not like to wait. Yet God blesses those who do. (Proverbs 8:34)
Act calmly
We must not complain and grumble. God will help us achieve this.(Galatians 5:22)
We must have trust. God likes those who are steadfast in seeking HIM. We must be obedient and live our lives according to His plan and purpose.
Anticipate
We must expect that God will do what He has promised. He always keeps His word.
Be patient
If the answer does not come soon enough as expected, we are to remain calm. We must continue to remain calm, if we are placed in a situation when an opportunity is about to pass us by, or the pressure to respond seems almost too great. We need courage to fulfill this commitment.
Psalm 130:1 - 8
Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins

In times of difficulties
When difficulties arise, mediate on the Lord’s sufficiency and His will, and you will be strengthened and refreshed. Always focus your mind and spirit on God is a good discipline for all believers to follow. Call on God and draw on His help and claim victory to your problems.
Our main resource for mediation is God’s Word. David has a trusting relationship with God He drew on God’s past and present delivering power to help him in his fight with Goliath (1 Samuel 17:37) When he encountered King Saul’s threats and advances, he believed on God’s protection as he called upon God as his refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2) He called upon God’s presence and comfort to fill his mind and heart when he experienced loss of his loved ones (1 Samuel 30:3 - 6)
Psalm 145:1 - 13
