Peter wept bitterly when he realized that he had let Jesus down. He was also crying because he had a good close look at himself. Just like Peter, we must face ourselves in order to comprehend our desperate need of God's help. When we are prepared to take this step in faith, we will begin to realize the depth of God's love for us. He sent His son Jesus to die for us while we were sinners.
Let us ask God to help us to see ourselves as we really are, so that we can discover more fully the depth of His unending love for us.
Psalm 139:1
Lord, you have examined me and you know me.
Romans 5:8
But God has shown us how much he loves us -- it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us!
