589 Mountains and rain clouds

Have you ever spent some time living in the country side surrounded by beautiful scenery of lake or ranges of mountains, trees and shrubs. On a clear day you are blessed with clear, crisp weather, allowing for fantastic visibility. On other days rain clouds may hover over land and sea, dissolving the mountains as if by magic.

Weather conditions can distort our perceptions of the mountains around us, just as crises in our lives can make God seem farther away and without a solid presence in our lives. However, "Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore." (Psalm 125:1-2)

Let us ask God to surround us with His never-failing strength and love. Ask Him to help us to walk with Him when we cannot see Him and to embrace Him when we cannot feel His presence.

Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
